[Up][Home][Right] The Name

Why 'The Bellinghman'? Well, let me tell you a story.

My real name is Alan Bellingham, and I'm a regular on alt.fan.pratchett. Due to hysterical raisins ... I'm sorry, I mean historical reasons ... this surname is pronounced in a typically illogical English way as Bellin-jum.

Alas, the temptation for the others to play with it was irresistible, and finally ppint. succumbed, renaming me The Bellinghman.

For a while, I resisted. But at Intersection (the 1995 Worldcon held in Glasgow), I found my namebadge to have mysteriously transmuted while I slept. The same occurred during Evolution (the 1996 Eastercon). In the end, I gave up. And there is one great advantage: I'm almost certain to be the only Bellinghman on the 'net.

Oh, yes, that should be pronounced: 'The Bellinj-man'.
